G78: Blue Jays 15, Red Sox 2

Silver Lining Dept.: In six of the nine innings, the Blue Jays managed only two baserunners and did not score. ... The Yankees lost to Detroit, so the Chokers now rest all alone in fourth place.

The Matt Mantei Experiment must end. In 26.1 innings, he's walked 24, allowed 23 hits and plunked five batters. In the seventh inning last night, he walked the bases loaded, gave up a two-run double, then walked another batter. ... And John Halama should be shown the door as well. ... The top two spots in Toronto's order drove in 12 of the 15 runs.

As NESN showed fans streaming out of Fenway before the debacle was complete, LateRally wrote in the SoSH Game Thread:
So what does this say about those of us who are still sitting here in front of the computer watching a 15-1 shellacking? Are we among the most dedicated and loyal of fans, or are we a bunch of masochistic geeks?
The consensus was "both". Hell, I was still dutifully scoring the damn game.

This morning's rumors are that Mantei may be headed for the disabled list, tonight's starter David Wells may be questionable because of his plantar fasciitis and Curt Schilling's may return after (not before) the All-Star break.

I'll update if necessary.
