Phillies at Red Sox, Ppd.

Today's game was postponed/rained out and will be played tomorrow afternoon at 1 PM.

***

Did Ortiz call his shot yesterday? The Globe: "Alex Gonzalez said he heard David Ortiz tell one of the grounds crew members before the bottom of the 10th, 'That's it.'"

Maybe that's not so amazing, after all. At least 90% of Red Sox fans probably thought the same thing.

Tim Wakefield (3.82) / Cory Lidle (5.00), 2 PM

Lidle started against the Red Sox on May 21 (6-5-3-2-6, 94). Philadelphia chased Lenny DiNardo in the third inning that day and went on to win 10-5. Both Kevin Youkilis and Mike Lowell homered off Lidle.

I don't know, I'd say more like 95 or 98% knew he'd hit it out... Sometimes there's just this crazy feeling during an at bat of Ortiz's. He'll wiff very badly, and then I'll just kind of think, yeah, next good pitch he sees, see ya later...

Of course, then I take it back nice and quick 'cause I don't want to jinx the guy.... :)

Oooh, Anibal Sanchez is starting for the Marlins against the Yanks. Could be interesting.

Make it 5!

5 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, 2 K, and 75 pitches -- and a 3-0 lead.

I was sorry to see him go.

Got to let these trades go, guys.

Indeed. Some people act as if trades are only good if the player the team lost ends up sucking.

Trades are good if they bring you what you need. You have to give up someone, and chances are, to get someone good, you have to give up someone good, too - or at least someone with potential. With any luck, you get what you needed.

Some fans act as if there's a whole shadow team out there, all the might-have-beens, and somehow they could all still be wearing a Red Sox uniform, and then... what? We also wouldn't have half the players we have now.

The team is what's here, now. You know, the one in first place?
