G38 re CHB on TCM

38pitches:
CHB can sob all he wants, Rocket coming here gave him something legitimate to actually write about for the next 4 months. Now he can stick to the bitter style he's perfected and talk about how bad we suck because we failed to get Rocket.
There are occasional typos in Curt's posts, but why do I think this isn't one of them?
Contrary to CHB's belief, and she may find it hard to believe, I LOVE pitching with Daisuke, I love to be able to see first hand what he brings to the team and the organization.
He's clearly baiting Shaughnessy -- a fantastic sub-subplot to the season.

If it's not a typo, it's disgustingly sexist.

Like it or not, he refers to him as "she" several times.

Curt: Why don't you refer to him as Bozo?

"Dan? Bozo called. He wants his hair back."

I don't like anything that emanates from Curt Schilling, except his pitching.

I caught his interview on WEEI this morning and he admited that it was a cheap shot, and was remorseful, saying he should probably read something like that 2 or 3 times before publishing it.

As for being sexist, I don't think that was it so much as it was Curt being like Bill Parcells. Also, from what I've seen this was one of his nicer names for CHB.

It's safe to assume that what Schilling apologized for is not what bothered me. He's saying he shouldn't have made the cheap shot. I don't care what shots he takes at CHB. I object to "she" being used as a derogative. Huge difference.

It's incredibly sexist. Using the feminine as an insult - "girly man", "throws like a girl", calling someone a pussy as an inuslt - is sexist to the extreme.

I'm not objecting to Schilling calling CHB any damn thing. I can't stand the man myself. But "she" is not an insult!! It's the same thing as calling a man a fag, or calling a woman manly.

S1c, not picking on you here, just trying to explain.

Where's Jere? He's better at this than I am.

It's definitely sexist. But of course I'm gonna say that. Don't get me started on things that "suck" or lack "balls." The only excuse that can be made is: He knows the other person wouldn't want to be referred to as female (but does that make the other person sexist? My head's gonna explode), so he uses that to get his goat.

To me it's more disturbing that it's become a "default insult" in our society, to imply female=lesser: "where's your skirt/purse/etc," and the examples L provided.

Homer Simpson just said, on an episode I'm watching as I write this, "Time to do what I do best: ruin it for everybody." Kind of how I feel when I get in these discussions. Blame L-girl, she asked for my opinion:)

We heard a bunch of these at Skydome tonight.

When Yook got HBP and left the game, "he got hit in his female parts".

Many yells of "girly-man" -- good work, Jays fan, use a dumb-as-shit catch-phrase from 10-15 years ago.

Plus: Hey Manny get a hair cut. ... What is this, the 1950s?

Bsides, haircuts are for last place teams.

Thanks Jere. :)

I don't think I realized it was a default insult. So it's even worse than I thought.

Many Jays fans were using this tonight - ragging on Manny by calling him a girl, who does your braids, blah blah blah. Besides being ridiculously outdated (haven't they ever seen men with long hair before?), the sexism just made me sick.

If it's any help, Jere, I don't think you ruined it for anyone. It could be no one is listening but us. :)

And PS, I have a total ban on the word "balls" being used for courage or fortitude.

Except for "Saturn Nuts"!

No, except for I can't control what you say. :)

You know how I feel about Bronson. I would never insult him by implying he has freakishly large anatomical parts.

I got to Fenway a few weekends ago for a Yankee game, got inside, and these two dudes, I'd say about 40 years old, went right down to the fence during BP, and started yelling "Gay-Rod!" In this case, I think I was even more offended by the fact that they seemed to yell this as if they were the first to think of it. Considering their age, it was just very embarrassing all around.

I personally use the term "gonads" when necessary, as females and males both have them.
