I filled a quart jar with blueberries I found in the woods today

The way this game is going that will probably the highlight of the day.

I have a different version of the song stuck in my head. A live cover by a British singer named Kate Nash.

DOUBLE FUCK THE GOOSE

Patrick said...

This is a cruel world. I'm trying to just lose myself in blueberries.

i had such high hopes for this weekend, but now i have to look forward to trying to avoid a sweep? AT HOME? makes me sick.

I know. It's gross.

I am still hopeful. I don't care if I'm wrong, I'd rather be hopeful than right.

In-freaking-tangible!

allan said...

Come on Hansen, I wanna believe.

Patrick said...

At least Sosock avatar is here

Rob said...

BEANED!!!

allan said...

We might as well be playing at the Toilet, because this game is in the crapper.

Rob said...

That's a good way to go about it. Hit him hard enough so he doesn't think about fighting. So he just hurts.

laura k said...

Crowd loved that!

the thing is though, it'll be over soon. even if we get swept, monday it'll be over. it'll hurt like hell, but we'll got back to just playing baseball and being a great team at home, and hopefully we can even things out on the road.

YEAH A-ROD HBP!

laura k said...

because this game is in the crapper.

The magic words...

Rob said...

I love how the benches have been warned...

Consider, Hansen has been wild, and he plunked Slappy to load the bases.

allan said...

now here is the important part, craig -- get the 3rd fuckin' out

SoSock said...

Payback's a mutha

Joe Grav said...

A-Rod is such a bitch.

allan said...

Rally Niece is no more. She failed us last night. We move on ....

Patrick said...

Hopefully that will end A-Rods career. Next time he swings his arm will fall off.

allan said...

Timlin UP!

alrightee!!

nixon33 said...

way to go.

laura k said...

it'll hurt like hell, but we'll got back to just playing baseball

That's the great thing about baseball. (One of many.)

Oh damn, another run. CRAP.

SoSock said...

Surely he's not leaving him out there!?

allan said...

THREE MOTHERFUCKING WALKS AND A HBP ---- UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

FUCKING CHRUIST OIN A CROTCVH

allan said...

leave him - it's useless anyway

bah

laura k said...

But people get very caught up in predictions - showing off how much they know.

I'd rather go into every game, every inning, every pitch, believing we can win.

Who cares how much anyone knows? No one can see the future.

laura k said...

it's useless anyway

FUCK YOU

And I say that because I love you, of course.

Patrick said...

Lets just keep him in there until he starts crying, and then maybe pull him.

laura k said...

Next time he swings his arm will fall off.

hee hee

laura k said...

Oh damn. Ok, never mind the fuck you, it is useless.

allan said...

let him get that 3rd out -- we got time

nixon33 said...

a laugher in the crapper

allan said...

Guess what? From 1977-2006, there were 3,053 games that had the home team trailing by 7 in the bottom of the 8th.

17 of those 3,053 came back to win!

0.006%

BELIEVE!

My acupuncturist told me I need to eat more food. Sounds pretty ok to me. I wish he told me I need to eat more salmon, or steak, or something fun like that, but more food is fun too.

laura k said...

She didn't tell you not to eat more salmon or more steak, did she? "More food" could be anything.

allan said...

Betemit in for Slappy.

Patrick said...

Yeah, but it would be awesome if they told me to eat a lot of salmon. I could buy a ton guilt free.

allan said...

I got work. Cool!

laura k said...

You should eat anything you want guilt free.

laura k said...

Speaking of which, I can't believe I gave up my dinner break to listen to this crappy game.

Patrick said...

Ehh, I don't feel good about the state of the oceans. It'd be nice to give it a chance to grow back.

A Conformer said...

Well, at least it's Lester-Ponson tomorrow. That's a reason for optimism.

allan said...

Hey, Fangraphs, how ya doin'?

:<(

laura k said...

Patrick, I know, I agree. But no guilt. I think either eat it or don't. Eating it with guilt is useless - doesn't save the fish and makes you feel bad.

laura k said...

Well, I'm not turning this game off.

s1c said...

Well, I'm not turning this game off.

Neither am I, but that is just so I don't feel guilty about draining the bottle of jack daniels.

SoSock said...

Good spot for White Flag - just to save everyone else.

allan said...

Down by 7 in the bottom of the ninth, 4 of 4,224 home teams (1977-2006)came back to win the game.

.001%

THERE IS HOPE!

nixon33 said...

hahaha, awesome

laura k said...

Not exactly Hallmark quality hope, but...

laura k said...

I hope this is the lowest point of the season.

In October when we're in the playoffs, we can think back on this weekend and say, see, you never know.

nixon33 said...

hey guys, and im not being negative, sarcastic, etc.

do you still think the yanks wont make the post season?

Rob said...

True, but who'da thought the Yankees would be tied with the Red Sox... Today.

allan said...

Not tied -- we're still a game up on them.

Yeah, I believe it. Gotta believe in something. I'm sticking with it.

Rob said...

What we have here is a low point in the season for Boston, a winning streak for New York, a consistent front-runner in Tampa Bay...

What we have is a legitimate three-horse race with 2 months to go.

laura k said...

Yes, I still think the Yankees won't make the playoffs. I still think the AL East will be us and Tampa.

Rob said...

Not tied -- we're still a game up on them.

Funny... FOX showed the AL East Standings before the final out, and it showed Boston 1.5 GB, New York 2.5 GB.

SoSock said...

Boo, hiss
Manana.
I'm off find a light saber for my grandson. Maybe our Jed-I can use it tomorrow.

allan said...

FOX showed the AL East Standings before the final out, and it showed Boston 1.5 GB, New York 2.5 GB.

That's what they are now. Fox jumped the gun -- assuming we'd lose with one out to go!

A Conformer said...

That was shitty...

laura k said...

Yeah, I believe it. Gotta believe in something. I'm sticking with it.

I feel the same way. No one who makes predictions *knows* what's going to happen. They just act like they do.

So why not believe what I want to happen, will happen? (It did last year!)

It can't hurt. And I'll enjoy the season a whole lot more.

laura k said...

Hasta manana.

A Conformer said...

That's what they are now. Fox jumped the gun -- assuming we'd lose with one out to go!

I think that would qualify as a safe assumption.
