CSNNE: Middlebrooks Will Be With Red Sox Tonight

Third baseman Will Middlebrooks is on his way to Boston, according to CSNNE's Maureen Mullen.
Middlebrooks is traveling from Toledo where Triple-A Pawtucket Is playing.

Middlebrooks could be activated or kept in the wings, depending on the Red Sox' need. Third baseman Kevin Youkilis has missed the last three games with an ailing back.
Lars Anderson was optioned to Pawtucket after last night's game, so Middlebrooks's call-up could be the corresponding move.

There has been no decision on whether to put Youkilis on the disabled list (although that seems likely as his back pain is only getting worse), and no announcement about the status/destination of either shortstop Jose Iglesias and pitcher Aaron Cook. [UPDATE: Rob Bradford reports that Cook has been called up.]

Middlebrooks, 23, is hitting .333/.380/.677 with nine home runs and 27 RBIs in only 24 games. If Youkilis remain unavailable, Middlebrooks should be the starting third baseman every night.
